Most good men are defined by their secrets, but out of a moment of reflex, one man's darkest secrets come to light.

"Take every day one at a time and make ‘em count", that’s the motto of Marcus Dawes aka 'Ghost'. Without warning, Ghost suddenly finds himself thrust back into a world that he fought his way out of years before. His past, present and possible future are about to collide violently over the next few days. By week's end, his life will take a turn for the unimaginable... and to think, it was all good just a week ago.

A Long Week The Chronicles of Ghost edition by Michael Dorsey Aurora Dewater Brian Parker Rafael Then John Miller Literature Fiction eBooks

Normally, I don't read books in this genre, but a friend recommended it. It is a very good book especially for a first time author. The story is easy to picture in your head and it is pretty simple to follow. He does take a few twists and turns and it is written in his voice so the book sticks out. The only problem aside from a few typos (that seem to be common in e-books sadly) is that aside from some characters, there wasn't much depth added to ones I felt needed it such as Ghost's dad. That is a small problem however. The main problem is that while there weren't any major issues that I had with the story, there also wasn't anything truly groundbreaking either. It is very rare for a first time author to hit something right out of the park and admittedly, I am a tough critic. That said, it is still a very good book and Ghost is relatable.

Why did I give this five stars instead of four? It wasn't prompt service from Amazon or that I was doing this as a favor for a friend in the event they read this. I gave it five, because Michael Dorsey didn't fall into the issues a number of first time authors face when writing. He wrote this book in his voice without being insulting to his audience's intelligence in any fashion. It was short and simple. He also didn't make Ghost into a Mary Sue even though Ghost is based off him. There are so many authors who use a character as a voice for their real selves and they act as if nothing could ever go wrong for their character. The character is always right and everything should revolve around him/her. Ghost isn't a Mary Sue in my opinion. He is naïve in that he feels certain actions don't come back to haunt him even towards the end, he has strained relationships with some characters that care for him, and he admits his mistakes. So I'm giving this book a five star review just for the fact Michael Dorsey didn't walk into the traps so many people before have. I'm looking forward to his next book.

A Long Week The Chronicles of Ghost edition by Michael Dorsey Aurora Dewater Brian Parker Rafael Then John Miller Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I was very fortunate to get my hands on a paperback copy which was specially signed by the author. The Chronicles of Ghost A Long Week is an amazing story which encompasses some reality, with some fiction. I tried to put the book down several times to do other things, but I ended up having it in my hand and reading it til the end. You absolutely fall in love with the characters, especially the main one. I felt like I knew Ghost myself and could relate to other characters easily. The fact it's based on a real place makes for a great source for visualization. It really is an amazing book, and I would recommend it to anyone. I can't wait for the next installments!
“A warrior’s ultimate victory comes not from raising his weapon, but in laying it down.” The Chronicles of Ghost A Long Week is a story of redemption.

Marcus Dawes is Ghost and he’s the proverbial “good guy” of his Yonkers neighborhood. People far and wide know of his kind spirit, quick wit and even quicker sense of right and wrong. Ghost is also unafraid to stand up to those who do evil and has saved lots of people from pain and suffering along the way. But he has a secret past…

Demon is a man who runs with the Set, a gang that is hell-bent on ruling their neighborhood, then Yonkers and finally all of New York City. He is a brutal, calculating killer. He does what he has to do in order to get the job done and it doesn’t matter who is left bleeding in the gutter as he walks by. All that changes one day when he’s on a job in Chinatown. He holds his best friend’s dying body and vows to make a change to his worthless life…

Demon flushed his past to become Ghost.

Michael J. Dorsey uses his mastery of the urban landscape to tell a tale well worth reading with hints at the supernatural and paranormal. The use of dream sequences during the first half of the book sometimes seemed out of place to me, but this book isn’t going to be a stand-alone work so maybe they’ll be pulled into the second (or third!) novel and will explain a few things. Remember those “holes” in some of the earlier J.K. Rowling books that were part of the master plotline of the series? I feel like Michael has placed those sequences there for a reason that only he knows for now.

I look forward to the next installment. The author has hinted on his Facebook page that the next book will be an explanation of Marcus’ past and how he earned his almost supernatural abilities…
Great book
I absolutely loved this book! Once I started reading, I never wanted to stop. It was filled with unexpected twists and turns. The author definitely leaves us with wanting more. Can't wait for the next book to come out!
I am anxiously awaiting the second instalment to the Chronicles. I loved reading this first book. I can only imgine what is in store for the second book. Michael has powerful and meaningful words. If you haven't already you need to buy this book and become a fan like i have been for a while now. Sitting patiently waiting to be on the edge of my seat again.
A new take on an urban novel. CHRONICLES is one of those books in my collection I have chosen to reread multiple times. I am happy to see its made its way to now i can quick read it on my kindle ) The struggles that the main character experiences and how he is forced to deal with them is what makes the journey with him so interesting and unique. Im already anticipating the second installment. Who knows what Dorsey has in store for us next time around. Patiently waiting. ENJOY!
I recommend this book. The story line is great with lots of twists. Great to read something different from a young black man. Great buy. It's worth it.
